Development Program

Our Development Program is a supplemental soccer program designed for players seeking more training and competition than our Recreational (House) Program can provide. The program focuses on skill development, teamwork, long-term player growth, and higher-level competition opportunities. Participation in the recreational Spring program remains a required component of the Development Program

GUIDING PRINCIPLES: 

• To allow players to develop skills at a higher level, and to experience personal growth both mentally and physically. 
• To encourage players to be mentors and examples to other players in our club 
• To develop coaches by ensuring they can attend workshops and Clinics. 
• To improve the overall level of soccer in the community by supporting and developing players and coaches for future years. 
• To promote good sportsmanship and always emphasize fair play

Development Soccer - 2027 Phase 1 Registration Open to All Members

The Development Program operates as an open registration model. Submission of a Phase 1 registration does not guarantee placement on a team, as roster spots depend on sufficient player registrations, volunteer coaches, team formation requirements, and available program resources. Existing Development Program players receive roster priority where registrations exceed team capacity.

• Phase 1 is a google form REQUIRED to register a new or existing development (formerly travel team) player
• Phase 1 is a program commitment, but does not include full payment
• A $50 fee is required as part of Phase 1 - e-transfer to wkfctreasurer@gmail.com.  Will be refunded player cannot be rostered.
• Phase 1 will be open August 4th until September 11th
• Development teams require volunteer coaches in order to operate. Parents interested in volunteering as a coach or team manager are encouraged to indicate their interest during Phase 1 registration.

Following Phase 1, the Club will review registrations and determine which teams can be formed based on registration numbers, volunteer coach availability, and program policies.

• Phase 2 will be a REQUIRED TeamSnap registration with payment
• Phase 2 will open as soon of the Phase 1 review is completed
• Only members notified of successful team rostering will be eligible to register at Phase 2

Note: Due to team formation timelines, tournament planning, and volunteer coach recruitment requirements, late registrations may not be accommodated. Players wishing to participate should ensure they complete Phase 1 during the registration period.

The Club will do everything it can to ensure all interested players are able to participate in the program but will be limited based on number of registrants as well as available resources and volunteers.

What's included in the program?

• 1.5 to 2- hour weekly practices throughout the approved Development Program schedule
• Volunteer team coaches supported by regional contract coach oversight, mentorship, and coach development opportunities.
• Contract coach oversight and volunteer coach development
• Two travel tournaments selected annually by Club leadership and the Development Program Committee. Tournament details will be confirmed during Phase 2 registration. 
• Spring Recreation Soccer registration fees.  
• Annual BC Soccer Insurance.
• Additional friendly games with neighboring clubs and development teams where available.
• Optional additional tournaments may be offered but are player-funded and subject to team interest.
• Kits (home, away jersey, shorts, socks) are not included in the program fee. Official kits will  be purchased from a Club store (not yet setup).  The goal is to standardize kits across the program and keep costs down for members.

Estimated 2027 Program Fee - $515 to 550 per player.  Final fees will be confirmed prior to the opening of Phase 2 registration and may vary depending on team formation and final program costs
