As adults, it is our responsibility to ensure that all of our children are able to enjoy soccer in a safe, fun, accessible, inclusive and developmentally appropriate environment. Given the uniqueness of our country – where geography, climate and infrastructure can be vastly different from one region to the next – it will not always be possible to implement the Grassroots Standards. We have adapted those standards to the unique setting of the Slocan Valley and Arrow Lakes areas to ensure that all players, who wish to play, no matter of skill level, experience, creed, ethnicity, identity or orientation - is able to have a fun, safe and developmentally appropriate time.
As such our divisions operate as follows:
Minis - NO formal matches. Focused on developing basic skills as per the FUNdamentals principles.
Grade K/1 - NO Formal matches. Focused on developing basic skills, and how to play the game, as per the FUNdamentals principles.
Grade 2/3 - Plays Formal Matches. 6v6 (5 on field, plus a goal keeper). No offsides are played at this level. Matches are usually 40-45mins in length, filling a 1 hour time slot when breaks are included.
Grade 4-6, 7/8, 9-12 and Adult - Players Formal Matches. 8v8 (7 on field plus a goal keeper). Offsides are played when offence is clear. Matches are 25 minute halves filling a one hour time slot.
